Senior Wellness

We are committed to helping senior and palliative pets both in their home and at our welcoming hospice centre.

Our practice is an AAHA-certified End-Of-Life-Care Practice. We are the second in Canada to achieve this designation from the American Animal Hospital Association. Our care providers are certified in both palliative and hospice care through the International Association For Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC), and in euthanasia or end-of-life care through the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (CAETA). The IAAHPC course is an intensive 12 month program, and gives each of our providers exceptional insight into how we can better provide comfort care, as well as a better quality of life for our pets.

All team members at ‘Heart With Wing’s are continuously working on continuing education in the field of communication, grief, hospice, palliative and end-of-life care. We are committed to growing our knowledge in these fields to offer family’s the most peaceful and gentle experience possible.

We put so much effort and attention into the care we provide our patients and families that we wanted this care to continue in the aftercare for their pets. In 2021, we opened the first independently owned pet crematorium in Simcoe County. Many families have expressed a great comfort in knowing that their pet will stay within our loving care until they return home with their family.

We aim to be leaders within our profession when it comes to hospice care and euthanasia, and it is our vision to provide a peaceful end-of-life care experience for as many pets as we can.
